Cradle Of Filth is an Extreme Metal band from England. The vocal (provided by Dani Filth) is very special, but also great in my opinion.

Cradle Of Filth is a fanstastic band, so check them out Very Happy

Cradle Of Filth - The Foetus Of A New Day Kicking Horns

Cradle Of Filth - Suicide And Other Comforts

Sick pictures, but AWESOME song! cheers
And the title of the track is brilliant!!!

Dani had a surgery? I haven't heard that rumor before... But yes, A-W-E-S-O-M-E growling! Very Happy

Yeah, Cradle Of Filth aren't very good live... Unfortunately...

some say thats because the band edit dani's vocals on pc thats why he is unable to perform well live. i dunno if this is true but who knows. Oh and about the surgery (i think i screwed up in constructing the above sentence XD), it is said that dani had a surgery to add one more vocal chord so that he can sing in such tones. impossible i say, it is just nonsense

Growling. What's wrong with it? Razz

Don't give me that "Growling takes no talent" nonsense. -_-
Especially when you yourself listen to Amon Amarth. Razz

It does take no talent. You only have to exercise your voice chords a little to be able to growl while if you want to sing clear you have to practice lot more.
And I don't listen to Amon Amarth.

Right, because I'm sure you can growl. -_- Yeah, it's sooooooooooo easy.

I' d just really appreciate people not putting it down, it's stupid. Both are metal and we're all metalheads, you should at least accept it and stop putting it down as a vocal style.

Trust me, from someone who is trying to get both clean and growling/harsh vocals it isn't easy. Both styles are as hard as each other. Whatever you do vocal wise is difficult.

(My mistake on the AA thing, i thought you did.)

Well, I'm pretty sure I could make good growls after a week of training but I would need years to achieve clear and falsetto vocals.

Took me both a fair amount of time considering i'm the guitarist/main vocalist/keyboardist (studio) of my band.
However I found it easier to recover and sing clean as compared to creating metal that is in your face, with harsh vocals.
To think it takes a week to learn harsh vocals perfectly and do say, a 1-2 hour concert doing nothing but so, is an understatement.
It is also a bias due to the fact you don't like harsh vocals.
Not to mention your experience in that field is preferably little.

The greatest vocalists are those who can implement both in the field to achieve a certain effect. You can place Jari and Mikael in this field.
However, the most iconic are known for their bellowing presence, and do you obviously think they're supposed to sound like a nancy?
Johan Hegg is easily the most iconic face in Swedish music. How did he get there? Obviously he did not get there singing like Joe Jonas wearing silk and suede shoes...
He commands the stage, but he would have never gotten such immortal presence without the help of the godlike voice that matched.
Trust me, if you formed a Melodic Death Metal or some sort of that band with only 1 week's training worth of harsh vocals, you're going to sound like Demoniac. Which is a horrible offshoot of Dragonforce with really poor growls.
Rethink your statements, your head is obviously more into power metal, which implements clean, higher timbre vocals a LOT more than growls.
Growls aren't your field, so stay out of it, and don't make opinions of it.
Leave that to those who play in that field.

That's really stupid. I don't tell my opinion to force everyone into having the same opinion.

Maybe you could, but your growling would not be very good! I've practised growling the last 6 month, and I can now almost perfectly cover Alexi Laiho's vocal Very Happy
But Johan Hegg? No fucking way, he is like 1000 levels above me...

I actually find it harder to do high-pitched harsh vocals such as Petri Lindroos, Alexi Laiho, and Jari Mäenpää than it is doing deeper guttural ones like Mikael Åkerfeldt. I've only had about three years of training and I think i've come close to emulating Mikael's clean and harsh vocal style.
Still, I envy your ability to reach the higher timbre, because I really adore Melodic Death Metal.

I never listened to much C.o.F., but they're not a bad band - just not quite my style.

If you guys will allow me to chime in on the harsh/clean vocal discussion:

I myself am a classically trained operatic baritone / tenor (you really don't have to believe me, as I know no one believes me). And as such, let me state: harsh shrill vocals are easy to do, EXTREMELY hard to master....especially for any extended period of time, as one's throat tends to get irritated and thus ensues coughing. Classical vocals are in comparison relatively difficult to pick up, but once you do you can reach your pique without nearly as much practice as harsh vocals.

I really don't enjoy doing harsh vocals, the best I seem to be able to maintain for any reasonable period of time is a gruff style like Joakim Broden of Sabaton; I've never been able to emulate Jari Maenpaa (Wintersun) or Petri Lindroos (Ensiferum, Norther), (or any decent shrill vocalist).

Growls, on the other hand (not shrills) are actually very easy for most people to pickup AND master. But it helps if you've been trained in another vocal style beforehand, because as with shrills it can irritate your throat....just not nearly to the extent shrills can.

In the end, vocals are all in the ear of the beholder; some love clean, some love growls, some love shrills, and some even love them all. I'm a clean and shrill fan myself, couldn't ever get into growls as much ^_^
